The ancient Greek paradise, with Kane’s return and shimmering gold temples, really makes Elysian Gold stand out. The Pandora’s Box bonus injects a thrilling twist, while Split symbols and Wild Forges keep the gameplay fresh and rewarding. Overall, it’s a dynamic slot with enough depth and drama to keep you spinning for ages.

Elysian Gold by ELK Studios – Kane Returns in Style for 2025
Kane’s back – and this time, he’s traded the icy cliffs of Valhalla for the golden skies of Ancient Greece. Elysian Gold by ELK Studios brings a high-concept mythology theme together with seriously amped-up bonus mechanics, including a clever Pandora’s Box feature that genuinely surprised me.
I jumped in expecting just another Gold-series slot, but it’s a pretty satisfying evolution with a few new tricks worth noting.

Elysian Gold throws you straight into a glowing paradise: sunlight filters through marble columns, gold ivy wraps around the reels, and you’re surrounded by temples, water gardens, and a golden sky.
It’s classic ELK styling, with rich visuals and smooth, immersive animations. But the game isn’t just pretty – it packs in big symbols, wild mechanics, and some ambitious bonus rounds.

Theme & Visuals
Ancient Greece has been done to death in slots – but ELK have managed to give it some fresh energy here. Kane’s latest outing takes place in what’s essentially Mount Olympus with a luxury upgrade: marble, gold, birds, gods, and glowing ruins. The sound design is just as crisp, filled with ambient tones and gentle percussion that builds with every win.

The reel symbols include silver tridents, owls, bulls, helms, and Kane himself – all nicely animated and layered. Symbols can land in regular sizes or oversized 2×2, 3×3, and even 4×4 blocks. It adds visual variety and plays into some of the bonus mechanics later.
How to Play Elysian Gold
- Set Your Stake: Bet from 20p up to £100
- Spin to Win: Match symbols from left to right across 4,096 win ways
- Watch It Expand: Every win can add more rows – up to 8 or even 9 in total
- Look Out for Pandora’s Box and Icarus Symbols: These boost your chances of hitting big wins
The base game’s decent, but things really heat up once you unlock the bonus mechanics.
Bonus Features
Avalanches & Expanding Reels
Every win triggers an avalanche – symbols explode and new ones drop in. Each cascade also adds a new row of symbols (up to 8), which means your ways to win can ramp up massively. Hit the special overflowing symbol and you can even unlock a 9th row for maximum chaos.

Icarus Feature
Land two or more Icarus symbols on a non-winning spin and it swoops in to save the round. Any symbols above Icarus (except wilds, scatters, or Pandora) are replaced with new paying symbols – sometimes wilds. It’s a clever rescue mechanic that gives dead spins a second wind.

Pandora’s Box
This is the standout feature for me. Pandora’s Box collects every symbol involved in a win – including the breakdown of big symbols into their smaller parts. Once there are no wins left on the board, the box explodes and repopulates the grid using the most collected symbol types first.

If multiple symbol types are tied, it picks the highest value one. The whole sequence plays out like a delayed bonus reveal, and it adds a real sense of drama. In super bonus mode, Pandora collects from the start and only releases her contents at the very end – very satisfying if you’ve built up a stash.
Split Symbols & Wild Forge
If a symbol lands with a Split marker, every matching symbol on the board is duplicated – increasing your win potential fast. This is great when it lands with big symbols, especially in combo with other boosters.

The Wild Forge is a blocker that locks into place, then fills all spaces below with wilds after the next avalanche. It’s persistent in free spins too, which can make for some serious wild-heavy setups.
Free Spins Bonus
Land 3–6 scatters to trigger 10–25 free spins. During the bonus round, every win raises your safety level – which means your next spin will drop symbols down to at least that unlocked height. This guarantees better board setups over time and adds momentum.

Wild symbols are sticky here, and Wild Forges stick around too, so the more features you land early on, the more powerful the round becomes. It’s classic ELK pacing – slow burn that can snowball into big win potential.
X-iter Feature Buy Options
Can’t wait for the bonus? ELK’s X-iter system lets you buy into different bonus states:
- Bonus Hunt: 2.5x bet – increased bonus chance
- Wild Forge Guarantee: 10x
- Max Split with 8 rows: 25x
- Standard Bonus Game: 100x
- Super Bonus with Pandora Triggered: 500x
That last one is pricey, but if you like explosive gameplay with long setups, it’s the one to go for.

Elysian Gold – Final Verdict
Elysian Gold surprised me. I went in thinking it’d be a slightly warmed-over sequel, but it’s a genuinely fresh take on the Gold series. The Pandora’s Box mechanic feels unique and satisfying, especially in the super bonus, and the mix of symbol splits, wild forges, and sticky free spins keeps things moving fast once you hit bonus mode.
The base game’s lower RTP (94%) is a shame, but that’s fairly common now for feature-heavy slots. The max win of 25,000x is impressive, and it feels just about achievable thanks to all the layered mechanics.
If you liked previous Kane slots – or you’re just in the mood for a well-designed mythology-themed game with real gameplay depth – Elysian Gold is definitely worth a spin.
